Finally watched another x-men movie

Days of Future Past. I don't know how something can be so good and yet feel kind of bad at the same time. Great cast, some great scenes, but overall kind of stinks. My least favourite parts were definitely the stupid cyborg thingies. Will probably watch Apocalypse next.

My new herb garden is now a pond

Although since they refuse to die, you could consider it a hydroponic garden Yes, it is rainy and cold and cloudy, and yes I built it at the bottom of a hill, but I had been here for 6 months and never had any issues with flooding, and this is despite the emergence of several large lakes nearby which did not exist in summer Then Spring rolls around, I get a few days of boiling hot sunshine, I do the garden, and the moment I finish, we get the most consistently wet weather so far Initially I realised my mistake was that, idiot that I am, I packed in several large rocks, thinking that because they do not absorb water, they will increase drainage - WRONG! they provide an impenetrable barrier through which no water can pass After a month of this, I was able to dig up the herb garden with much effort and take the rocks out, and the pool immediately began to empty. I topped it up with more soil and perlite after that, but consistently bad weather means it keeps on flooding - Rosemary, Lavender and Thyme are all holding up, but the Cat Mint is fully submerged If the sun ever comes out again, I think I will just build a planter

I am just completely unable to wear white shirts without ruining them

Of course if they are poor quality, old, or already stained, then that is fine, I will literally never get a mark on them, and if I do, it will wash off easily. If I buy a brand new shirt though, I will undoubtedly ruin it the very same day, even if I haven't yet worn it. This happens every single time. Yesterday I pulled a basically brand new shirt out of my cupboard, saw it was marked, and set it aside to clean later. I don't remember getting it dirty, but it looked like sand / rust / dirt from my recent trip to B&Q. I sprayed it with oxygen bleach, which did absolutely nothing as usual, despite assurances from TikTok that oxygen bleach is the best, and super powerful, so instead I scrubbed it with soap, but it was stubborn and I didn't make any progress at all. Half a bottle of white vinegar and several tablespoons of baking soda later, I was able to get the stain out by scraping the fabric roughly with my fingernails. Great. Then I put it in the washing machine to wash off. I took it out just now, and it has another gigantic stain on it, on the back somehow? Who is doing this to me? Myself? I hate that guy!

I finished the audiobook for Michael Crichton's The Sphere

I really enjoyed my time listening to the stress simulator 3000. My favourite bit was how the entire book was written like the most aggravating parts of Jurassic Park where Lex is yelling at Timmy to DO SOMETHING and Timmy shouts back IM TRYING. I really did like the twist in the very last line though.

I have tried pretty hard to find it again to no avail, it was just some guy in his house talking about his game and showing clips of gameplay, and I feel like his wife was in it too? The gameplay involved you cruising through space in your spaceship, exiting the cockpit and walking around while in transit, even going out on excursions - all in first person. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

I have gone down the strangest rabbit hole whilst trying to figure out who some billionaire philanthropist is and discovered this unusual website

The web page gets straight to the point:  Then there is some description of Bob Manoukian, which also happened to be kind of the only info I could find on the guy besides one other paywalled Bloomberg article. Clicking through to the home page, things only gets weirder.  So the guy is desperately poor and his plan to capapult himself into the ruling class is to attract the attention of a wealthy benefactor apparently. I kind of relate, to be honest. Who hasn't fantasized about living in a palace? I know I draw out my crazy plans all the time, it's my favourite form of escapism. It got me wondering if the guy has pages dedicated to other billionaires, you would think so, as this was a project that was apparently maintained for at least three years. I tried Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates but neither one of them came up, so I searched on Google instead, and bingo.  I clicked one at random, and it is what you would expect.  Pretty interesting. Juvenile catfighting between the IMT and CPB

I support Left media because of course I do, I'm not going to get my news after it has been heavily censored by the bourgoisie, but there isn't an issue of The Communist (the newspaper of the IMT in Britain formerly known as Socialist Appeal) which gets printed that doesn't dedicate some part to attacking The Morning Star (the newspaper of the CPB), The Communist Party of Britain, or Stalin, and usually they work something in there about modern China too. What does it matter if Trotsky is right about permanent revolution, if no Trot organisation has ever accomplished anything in 100 years? Was Stalin wrong to withdraw support from the international community and order others to lay down their arms and co-operate with the bourgeoisie? For sure, the USSR was villified for supporting them anyway. Was Stalin wrong for cracking down on security within the USSR? I don't know, have you seen what happens to fledgling communist states when they do not? I really don't know enough to be able to comment on everything, and I don't see the need to, either. Just the bitchiness from these orgs is such a turn-off, stop fighting and kiss eachother. Oh no, Special Branch wouldn't like that.

At first when I moved to Scotland I was appalled to learn that doner kebabs are served with sweet chilli sauce

Obviously just exagerating, but it was not was I was expecting. I had spent a few months in Turkey earlier in the year and been really disappointed to learn that the British do it better for once, so I was excited to get home and try it again. I moved to Scotland shotly after I came back, and I figured it would be just the same. It is not. First of all, the pros: In Scotland you have the option to get a munch box, which contains doner meat, a variety of pakore, and the legendary pink sauce. This shit is good, and the portions are abundant, to say the least. Later though when I wanted to get a regular doner kebab, the salad was not on point, and the sauce, first of all they didn't even have garlic sauce as an option, and when I learned that the chilli sauce was sweet instead of tangy, oof. Not good. While I have continued to adore Scottish cuisine for being exactly the kind of food I imagine stuffing my face with when I am drunk or high, my rose tinted glasses were broken. If they can commit such a cardinal sin as this, what else can they do? A doner kebab pie. I saw one today in the co-op and immediately had to try it. This is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my entire life, and the sweet chilli sauce made it taste vaguely Chinese, like char sui? God damn, I could eat these all day. I had an Irn Bru energy drink to go with it.
