Not to discredit your arguement but isn't Signal also centralised?

I already use proton on PC, I needed one for mobile as well hence Calyx caught my eye.
(ProtonVPN's free plan is limited to one device at a time, that's why)
I came across [CalyxVPN](https://calyxos.org/docs/guide/apps/calyx-vpn/) while browsing through [F-droid](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.calyxinstitute.vpn/), it seems to be offered by the same people who make CalyxOS. I couldn't find much discourse about it online, is it reputable enough to use? My use case would be to hide whatever I do online from my ISP (I'm not torrenting, just browsing). And yes, I know free VPNs are untrustworthy in most cases but this seems to come from a somewhat privacy respecting background so I was curious.

Yeah, I made this post after reading that article. There is clearly a problem with how domains and their renewals are managed. I'm not sure what a solution would look like, though.
A lot of folks suggest getting your own domain name for having control over your online presence but the question that I have always had is what would happen to them when I die? Wouldn't the domains eventually expire and anyone else would be able to register it and access my email attached to that domain? With that email, they can theoretically get into all my accounts which don't have 2FA on (a lot of the sites just don't have the option to turn on 2FA) via the 'Forgot my password' services? Similarly, if I have a blog or website that I have poured my heart and soul into for my entire life, wouldn't that just go down forever when the domain expires? Maybe services like The Internet Archive would help in that regard but I don't know how many people are actively searching for an archived version of a website when they can't access it on it's actual domain. I understand that after I die, all of this wouldn't by my concern and wouldn't matter but I still think about this a lot. To the people who have their own domain, email and/or blogs, what are your thoughts on this?

This worked, thanks!
Solution: Go to Settings > Home > Enable Shortcuts > Go to a new tab > Google will be pinned by default, hover over the Google icon > Click on the 3 dots menu > Unpin
I found [this](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1434526) support forum post but the solution provided doesn't work. Edit (thanks to [@moreeni@lemm.ee](https://lemm.ee/u/moreeni) for the [Stack Exchange](https://superuser.com/questions/1541022/how-to-removed-google-from-top-bar-in-firefox) link): Solution - Go to Settings -> Home -> Enable Shortcuts -> Go to a new tab -> Google will be pinned by default, hover over the Google icon -> Click on the 3 dots menu -> Unpin

You don't need internet to access the passwords stored in Bitwarden if you have their local clients installed. It stores an encrypted copy of your database locally to your device which syncs (updates) over the internet.

I'm sorry if I sound naive but what's wrong with using a mobile?
I thought people use traditional music players like iPod and Tangara only because of their retro feel, is there something else to it?

Just FYI, in India the president (head of the state) is more or less a ceremonial figure. It's the prime minister (head of the government) that you're probably talking about.

In my country, the state provides you with legal representation if you're unable to afford it on your own. Is that not the case in other countries (USA and Europe specifically)?

Their generous offering of 10gigabytes of free storage along with a private, ad-free, end-to-end encrypted experience always sounded too good to be true. There was no way they could sustain that business model long term. At least they're giving users enough time to jump ship and have not sold their data to Notion (judging by their twitter replies).
All skiff users have received a mail in this regard and Skiff has also [tweeted](https://twitter.com/skiffprivacy/status/1756093174806974831) about the same.

rdx.overdevs.com doesn't redirect to two different websites, it's a subdomain (which essentially functions just like any other domain).
The name being long isn't really a problem when most people just bookmark the sites they want to visit often and/or add the site to their home screen on mobile devices.
Moreover, using an alternate domain would incur additional unnecessary yearly cost & time to renew. The less maintenance these types of projects need, the better it is usually for them to survive long term.
Currently, I'm just using the default 'Drive PDF Viewer' on my Android devices, would love to switch to something FOSS and non-google. Any good recommendations? If it's available on F-Droid, that would be preferable.
We can follow lemmy accounts from Mastodon but I was wondering if we can do it the other way round? I tried searching the username of some Masodon accounts into the search bar on Lemmy and nothing came up but when I search up the username of any Lemmy account, they do show up. So, I'm guessing it's not yet possible?
