I thought Fallout 4 was good. As a first-person looter shooter. Shitty story-line and same problems as every game on the engine; but still great fun strictly as a shooter. Setting is on point, it's easy to get immersed in the world, all that. It just isn't a great role-playing game nor does it have a super compelling story after Kellogg's fight.
Even Fallout 76 is kinda good? Like if it wasn't for the whole multiplayer angle, it could have been a good Fallout 4-2.
Starfield is such an anamoly. It's technically (and by that I mean the tech itself) one of the best releases they've ever had. Shit runs smooth as butter even on unsupported hardware. But then the game itself is just... So boring. There's no life to the world like in every single one of their other games outside the major cities. Most of the universe is just empty, and even with the RNG POIs, because they are pre-made things that can just pop up anywhere, they have literally no environmental story-telling. And it also kinda feels like they lied about being sci-fi fans because every reference is as generic as possible. It's like someone who has never seen sci-fi in their life came up with everything in the game after a single night of barely paying attention to the top 10 sci-fi movies they found on a random BuzzFeed list.

Personally, I find that to be good news. I prefer ES's "just do the thing to get better at it" approach over arbitrary experience points to get better at whatever you decide to upgrade when you level up.
It also doesn't mean there won't be stats. The engine still depends on stats whether or not Bethesda makes UI for it or allows granular control of it. FO4's perks, for example, set various attribute and hidden skill points in the background to hard values because that's how the game handles the extra "power attacks" you can make. Instead of how it was displayed to the user in Oblivion, where you get these extra attacks at 25, 50, 75 and 100 points in a skill, you just upgrade the perk and it sets those values to the necessary milestone.
None of these simplifications stop it from being a good action adventure game. I think at this point if you still consider them to be RPGs first and not straight up action games, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. They haven't been good RPGs since Oblivion first shifted the series to being more action-oriented.

Idk anymore. I use femboy to separate feminine looking cis guys from trans girls because I know so many that aren't trans. They still behave like and identify as boys; they just look and dress like girls. But I also see it used almost like a slur (since it's kind of misgendering) for trans girls, too.

It could have been custom made back when they were doing that if you bought directly from MS. Not sure if they still do that, but I rememeber it being a thing back in, I think, the XB360 days.

The whole thing is highly illogical.
I've never had a work of fiction affect me so and I don't know what to do other than talk about it. I keep making myself cry wishing it all was real and I was there on Adastra or Khemia with Amicus and Neferu. I've certainly felt a fondness for characters and wanted to be transported to fictional worlds before but... Not like this. Not this badly. And it's not even the *visuals* that drew me to any of the characters; I've seen their images a lot before ever playing the game and didn't have the same pull toward them as I do now, knowing their personalities. This is so fucked up and stupid and I feel dumb for even admitting how it's making me feel, but I just have to because otherwise I'm going to overflow. 😖
I got on my PC today and noticed that yiffit, my homepage, won't log me in and just keeps giving this red banner popup in the left corner that says "error incorrect_login." I know it's not my login/password combo; I am able to use Jerboa and Firefox on my phone to log in and do stuff (that's how I am writing this post!) but on my computer it won't let me in! Cleared the history, cache, saved info, etc and it just keeps giving me this damn error even when I try to open the login page to make sure it's trying the right info. The main page itself just gives me the standard "server issue" error that I assume is Lemmy's default error page when it can't reach the server. But again, I am only getting this problem on my PC; my other devices allow me to browse and post just fine, so I have no idea what the heck is going on here. Is it my end or the server?
Personally, I don't* but I was curious what others think. ^*^some sandwiches excluded like a Cubano or chicken parm; those do require cooking.
I'm half-way through Sedna right now. I have just 1 Warframe (though I did start building Limbo last night when I remembered I did that quest) and it, a long with my best weapons, are maxed out and either at mod capacity or damn near (still need endo for a few). MR5. I have a railjack, I unlocked the Operator, and I have so many resources and credits. But everything is starting to take forever to kill and hurts me so much. When I did the whole Drifter quest thing, I choose everything I already used but it was so much stronger. The Warframe had way more shield and health even though I have Redirection and Vitality maxed out on it. The Boltor had a super high ROF compared to what mine has and did way more damage. How the hell do I get that kind of power on my normal stuff? I know about Forma but I haven't even seen some of the mods for the weapons I have I've seen suggested for maximum damage, so I'm just hanging onto those until it makes sense to use them. Is that really the only way to get stronger?
I'm not sure if this is a Lemmy issue, an instance issue or a Jerboa issue but occasionally when I hit the button to reply specifically to the main post and make a top-level comment, it instead replies to one of the already existing top level comments. I don't know how long this has been happening; I only just now noticed it wasn't me accidentally clicking the wrong reply button when it happened twice in a row and I was making absolute sure I hit the right button the second time.
I have 1 last achievement to get and it didn't seem like it would be that hard since I already got S rank without even trying on all the high payout missions when I was grinding cash for all the parts. However, a few seem to be completely arbitrary and not simply about speed and efficiency. Or maybe I am just not fast *enough?* I have to actually use a stop watch because the game doesn't actually tell you the mission time... Anyway I have literally 2 left that I can't get above A rank on and I don't know why. First is Stop The Data Breach. I zip through the level as fast as I can destroying the hacking nodes, and even take out the tetrapod in the hallway while waiting for the dialogue to continue and give me access to the last door leading to Iguazu. I know from watching a video of someone getting S rank that the damage and ammo costs I end up with are good (even lower) so it's gotta be the time it takes to do the final fight. But that dumbass Iguazu heals like 4 times every time he's down to nothing which makes it take *way* longer than it should. I can kill him faster but that would cost more in the ammo cost, assuming it even hits because the weapons that would allow near instant death are also super slow and he constantly dodged all over the place. The other is Destroy the Refuelling base. I've zipped straight to the main objective and killed the ACs at the end in under 2 minutes and got A rank. I've gone and blown up all the fuel dumps then the main objective and killed the ACs in just a few seconds more; still A. The fuck does it expect me to do? Finish in 30 seconds? I can use the fastest possible mech build and it still takes like a minute just to reach the objective going in as straight a line to it as you can. The lack of clear objectives listed for these arbitrary requirements is driving me crazy. I've looked for answers online, of course, but every answer is different. Some people got S rank doing this, others got it doing something else. Neither method worked for me, so it just feels like random.
Playing Ghost of Tsushima and just trying to get the best settings for my machine and was suggested to use high preset with resolution scaling off and frame Gen on. It certainly makes the FPS counter *say* it's 60fps now when it would constantly dip to 40, but it doesn't feel or look smooth at all. I can get 60fps without frame Gen in much of the game, and turning it off in those areas looks smoother and feels nicer. I've never used frame generation in anything else before so I don't know if this is normal or what's going on. Would it feel better if I uncapped the frame rate and turned off vsync?
Just thinking about how I've read that humans are the only animals on the planet that can throw objects with a degree of accuracy. But could a dog or other animal be taught, and trained to throw things to hit a target? I mean, it's not like a human can throw well without guidance and practice, either.

Like "radio" or "fantasy" or "game..." They're basically the same in Japanese (radjio, fantaji, gaamu) so if I just said them in English pronunciation, would someone with no experience in English still be able to tell what I'm saying?
Just curious if anyone else with a Quest 3 (or even 2 I guess) is having this issue. Seems to have only started after v68 dropped. Is there a fix? The patch notes said I should be able to handle the connection from the system menu, but there's nothing to force them back on or turn them off; it's the same shit that's been in there since I got the thing.
Just let the enemy soldiers, knights and perfumers deal with it. Either the dragon kills all the adds, or the adds kill the dragon. I don't know why so many people summon for it when there are still like 50 dudes down there. I just sit at the top of the hill and watch; even as a phantom.
Just curious because they're like half dragon, right? Should the dragon damaging stuff hurt them more? 🤔
This is the only fight in the DLC that is truly unenjoyable for me. It's not *hard*, per se, but **fuck** is all that spam annoying.
One of the things I absolutely love in these games is that you can pretty much guess what an enemy's weaknesses are by looking at them. Dude made of fire? Use ice. Dude made of ice? Use fire. Dude made of flesh? Use bleed. Most people seem to understand this, but there's one other thing in these that I constantly see people having difficulty with and that is dudes made of rock or metal. Your swords, axes and spears won't really do much to these guys. But they do have a weakness: blunt weapons (IE Strike damage). The only stone guys in the game that don't really seem to follow this are the new Forge Golems, which have their own special weak point. Things made of stone or metal include: * Imps * Gravebirds * Radagon * Every type of golem * Iron Balls * Every type of Marionette * Divine Beasts (not easy to tell by visuals; but in the lore, the humans underneath are called "sculpted keepers" and if you look carefully, they have the same kind of stone-grey skin as other rock monsters) * Crystellians (these guys are actually used as a tutorial for the advantages of Strike weaponry!) * Iron Virgins (although their insides are still fleshy, so you can just bait them to open up and use slash or piercing weapons effectively too) * Falling Star Beasts * Graven Masses And in addition to these: Skeletons or anything visibly showing bone (which is pretty much all undead/Those Who Live in Death as well as Astels). But they are also super weak to Holy damage. So if you find yourself struggling against any of these types of enemies, just switch to a hammer of some kind for that encounter. Especially the grave birds in the Shadow Realm; strike damage makes these things not even a threat as even the smallest strike weapons keep them completely stun-locked.
When I am a Gold or Blue, the Host is an absolute noob and dies to falling off an easy jump. If I invade, the host is a god among men all the way at the end game of the DLC using the Taunter's Tongue all alone and actually is good at PvP.
I was stoked for these things, especially the spear so I don't have to waste FP with Spectral Lance (and I can make it any affinity), but I am noticing that if you hit something at the furthest range they will go, they do fuck all in damage. They do normal damage if you're still in melee range, but if I wanted to use them in melee range, I wouldn't give two shits about them being thrown weapons. 😬
