  • When you aren't an expert of knowing every single in and out of rimworld and how to optimize every second, it is the most frustrating game in existance.
  • ultrahamster64 ultrahamster64 2d ago 100%

I agree that rimworld isnt an easy game at all - it's quite the opposite. It also likes to get you in a deadlock - a situations similar to yours - where it feels like you are completely stuck despite the fact that the colony is running in non-stop overdrive mode.

I don't want to sound preachy, but (and that helped me at some point to enjoy rimworld more) remember that it is a story generator, not a "classic" game. And although it has a win condition (ship) it's much closer to minecraft - you don't need to win/beat the game to enjoy it. More than that - you don't need your colony to survive to enjoy the game :) I even think that deadlocks are a design choice - it incentivise you to make bold risky decisions.

In your case I'd either left (and caravan'd to somewhere good), tried raiding settlements around you or just started a new run.

  • ultrahamster64 ultrahamster64 3d ago 92%

I think stubbing your toe hurt so much is because it's pointless - you did to yourself "for free"

If I'm dying for someone I love at least it's not in vain

  • Do you actually care about your friend's new baby, vacation abroad or similar life events or are you just being nice?
  • ultrahamster64 ultrahamster64 5d ago 100%

I like when people tell me about good things they had, awesome stuff they experienced etc etc because for me their happiness and enthusiasm is contagious. If my friends are happy and sharing it with me, my mood also goes up. Maybe it's because hearing about good things gets your brain into thinking/remembering good things, or maybe it's just good to see your friends in high spirits and enthusiastic about something, I do not know.

But as the old saying goes, shared joy is a doubled joy, shared sorrow is a halfed sorrow

You have to pay them minimum wage, It's just called "monthly maintenance expenses" and it's quite a bit more than minimum pay for humans

No, I think quite the opposite. I learned this recently and I was quite surprised no one ever uses this as one of the arguments for renewable sources of energy.

Because why invest in an industry that is basically declining and wouldn't be around after 50-60 years.

  • There are 1.65 trillion barrels of proven oil reserves in the world as of 2016. The world has proven reserves equivalent to 46.6 times its annual consumption levels. This means it has about 47 years of oil left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves). This means that the oil is going to run out in our lifetime Source/more reading: https://www.worldometers.info/oil/ Update: It is infact not true (or just partially true), because it only considers already known oil reserves that can be pumped out with current technology. There is more oil that can potentially be used as technology and infrastructure advances, so the estimate of 50 years is wrong. My boss once said that you can abuse human workers, you can underpay them, you can worsen their conditions (and if you do it slowly) they might not notice, or they going to work even harder to survive. Worst case scenario they quit, and you just find another one "new" and repeat the cycle.

But you can't underpay robots. You can't abuse them. Why? Because they just break. You skip on maintenance, on working conditions, on anything around robots - and you are looking on fat sum of money that just going to get burnt on a new robot and its installation.

So no, robots are not going to save money, especially in this scenario, because abuse would be massive.

I'm learning to drive. After a big pause I felt like I forgot everything completely, but since I started doing lessons regularly again I can see steady improvements

Upper screenshot is looged in - last post shows up in !3dprinting@lemmy.world as 10 days old. Next one is 6 months old!! Lower screenshot is logged out - there's a bunch of new posts dating a couple of hours ago. I picked 3dprinting community just as an example - it happens all the time (sometimes communitys have number of posts displayed but they load as empty) I changed language in profile settings to "undetermined", tried some other stuff but nothing seems to do anything. Please help!
