off topic but I'd like to see federated imageboards, or a nostr imageboard
Definitely a sign the Fediverse has longevity problems I am careful what I comment so they either very manually singled me out or I got caught on an automated banner for downvotes (I ended up downvoting a lot since there were such frequent bad takes and posts) are my guesses Lemmyworld, with its ban of pirating communities, petty bans of random users, frequent downtime, CSAM attacks and new registration restrictions... I wonder which lemmy will overtake it with users since it has proven to be unreliable

The app may collect a per-device token, your public key, and a preferred Relay to connect to and provide push notification services through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging.

> I mean, we are the melting pot of the world, and that’s what makes us strong is our diversity
One widely shared post from a blue-checked account full of racist posts reads, “Such a let down. Did he sell out already to the rich men north of Richmond?” Another account called @Black_Pilled, whose bio indicates that it had recently been unbanned when Twitter welcomed white nationalists back to the platform, shared the clip with the caption “Promoted algorithm boosted ‘based’ red beard hillbilly song guy was faking his accent and says diversity is our strength.” Another tweet complains, “Oliver Anthony is now openly calling America a (((melting pot))) and saying diversity is our strength. Using the voice of the downtrodden white working class to smuggle this message is one of the most despicable antiwhite psyops ever.”
sounds likely manufactured or bought off, Twitter isn't fooled LOL

well for example lemmyworld is being attacked by CSAM right now, so like mob and kapow wanted to try to back off having to mod stuff like this, they want Nostr to structurally fix some of the problems of having to be a "benevolent dictator admin"

yeah I was sick this week and felt like I wanted to prioritize more other things over forums
I learn a lot from forums and have good convos so idk about cutting them out totally, cold turkey
but I have also lived without internet and I am wondering about more of life like that
squashkin 1y ago • 100%
I'm interested, but also was thinking this might be an opportunity to back away from forums a bit for me
we have already bounced from forum to forum quite a bit
well what are your thoughts on nostr
the reason why nostr was liked was to prevent us from having to keep bouncing around as much

wigglehard is bummed out about the move:
Gab will now be the permanent home of the dank, microwave taco community until further notice. I will only use other social media to promote for us, and convince people to come to gab. Nostr needs a lot of development and its current form reminds me of Twitter if it had a retarded cousin. It doesn’t work right and is inconsistent in performance.

Nostr hasn't been smooth for me at all but I'll probably figure something out

Blue Dwarf is a nice little forum, glad you found it
yeah idk if the move solves the problem, I was thinking about this a little and it seems people need to somehow be incentivized to talk to each other even if they disagree on things, not sure how to accomplish this
on neutral things it may be mutually beneficial to cooperate, like on discussing solutions to math problems which then could be used for a computer application everyone can use

cross-posted from: https://exploding-heads.com/post/735261 > via Wiki: > > > The Feast of the Dormition is preceded by a two-week fast, referred to as the Dormition Fast. From August 1 to August 14 (inclusive) Orthodox and Eastern Catholics fast from red meat, poultry, meat products, dairy products (eggs and milk products), fish, oil, and wine. The Dormition Fast is a stricter fast than either the Nativity Fast (Advent) or the Apostles' Fast, with only wine and oil (but no fish) allowed on weekends. As with the other Fasts of the Church year, there is a Great Feast that falls during the Fast; in this case, the Transfiguration (August 6), on which fish, wine and oil are allowed. > > > In some places, the services on weekdays during the Fast are similar to the services during Great Lent (with some variations). Many churches and monasteries in the Russian tradition perform the lenten services on at least the first day of the Dormition Fast. In the Greek tradition, during the Fast either the Paraklesis Great Paraklesis (Supplicatory Canon) or the Small Paraklesis is celebrated every evening except Saturday evening and the Eves of the Transfiguration and the Dormition.[1] > > > The first day of the Dormition Fast is a feast day called the Procession of the Cross (August 1), on which day it is customary to have an outdoor procession and perform the Lesser Blessing of Water.
