So yes, increasing shareholder value is enshrined in US law. Only private corporations can get around that rule.
This is true, with one exception.
There are non-profit corporations. They have to declare that they are non-profit at the time of foundation, though. They have to write that in the statute (idk what it's called in English, it's "Satzung" in German).

No, I was arguing in good faith; But I see it doesn't resonate with you at all, so i'll just leave it.

I agree, you could find it on a schoolyard.
But it's not weird to get hung up about it, consider my angle: By talking like this, we're defaming or decrying children. It will lead to less self-determination for young people in general, thus promoting the gerontocracy.

Never ceases to amaze me how this country has children as elected officials.
Could we please please please stop talking as if children are the worst? Everytime somebody misbehaves, there's someone who calls it "childish" instead of "stupid" or "wrong".

tbh, that's a fair question. I would have asked them same thing, if only to hope you'd say something like:
"What, no. The horses didn't die. It was a movie. They pretended to kill them."
Especially if you're already emotionally worked up.

I wonder: Is there any experiment done on Mars that uses Spectroscopy to detect water?
I'm thinking of something like this:
Due to Absorbance, wet air should absorb specific frequencies of light.

Der Wartungsaufwand, wenn man die TLD .org wählt, steigt mmn sehr stark an. Ideal wäre wohl .dach, aber das gibt es leider nicht. Daher schlage ich .at vor.

Two plates of rice or noodles with vegetables and salmon. Delicious. Actually, highest ROI that you could possibly hope to achieve in the universe.

Not really.
Feminism embraces openness in society, including walking your own path.
If that includes deviating from cis male sexuality, then yes, feminism does indeed allow that to happen, if it happens naturally. In other words: feminism does not force you to take part in the toxic masculinity circlejerk.
In that way, yes, feminism probably reduces the amount of "male sexuality" which is basically toxic masculinity in the world. But it does not force that change, instead, it lets it happen.

They predicted pron would condition men to expect sex on demand and sexual assault rates would skyrocket when in fact the opposite happened.
Reminds me of "computer games turns teenagers into killer machines" saying.

I imagine it's similar to marihuana.
If people find out there's an easy, relaxed life, they don't work so hard, hurting corporate profits.
Edit: This is *not* intended as "how to grow all your food you ever need at home". It merely provides the vegetables. You still have to get your grains (and therefore the majority of your calories) from somewhere else. geteilt von: https://lemmy.ca/post/22193783 > - [](https://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/comments/1d38q1p/a_cool_guide_homestead_on_onetenth_of_an_acre/) > - [Author: /u/well-made_innocence](https://www.reddit.com/user/well-made_innocence) > - [Link Shared on Reddit](https://i.redd.it/tb0ykrpzxw2d1.jpeg) > - [Original Reddit Comments](https://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/comments/1d38q1p/a_cool_guide_homestead_on_onetenth_of_an_acre/) >
Hey there ;-) These are my own thoughts about the US-China PV trade tariffs. My goal is to point out how solar installations are a good thing. And US should lower [tariffs on PV imports](https://www.pv-magazine.com/2024/05/17/us-government-reinstates-bifacial-solar-module-tariffs/). Here are my points: * *National security:* It has been argued that by relying on Chinese solar panel imports, the US makes itself dependent on China in a critical part of the economy. I disagree with this point of view: Solar panels are a very durable product, and once installed, can last easily for 20+ years. There is no urgent, or immediate need to replace them, in case a US-China war breaks out. Therefore, the US does not make itself more dependent on China energy-wise by importing solar panels. Actually, quite the opposite is the case IMO: In case WW3 breaks out (let's hope not but what if), then the US would be vulnerable by being dependent on *fossil fuel imports* that have to be shipped daily, or at least, regularly. By installing solar panels, they do no longer depend on recurring, regular imports. (Because solar panels only have to be imported once, not regularly). * *Economic arguments:* It is argued that by fostering the domestic solar panel production capability within the US, that could drastically make the domestic economy grow. It has been argued that instating tariffs on Chinese solar panel imports, and using the so-collected tariff money to subsidize the domestic solar panel market, would foster that goal. I want to show that, while this is true, also the opposite is true: Lowering tariffs has the consequence of providing even cheaper energy to the domestic economy, thus making all production (and therefore virtually every product in the market) cheaper, which stimulates the economy and increases the economy overall ([price elasticity](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_elasticity_of_demand)). So we have to compare the economic benefit of producing solar panels domestically, against the economic boost that cheaper energy provides. I would say (due to my gut feeling) that the second clearly outweighs the first, so the economy actually profits in total, if solar panel tariffs are dropped, because energy becomes cheaper and stimulates the economy. Edit: To the downvoter(s), please explain why you disagree. Or is it just not the appropriate place to discuss these things? If so, where would be a better place?
