What services do you selfhost?
  • Volt Volt 4w ago 100%

The things I currently selfhost are:

    • Grafana (Graph server stats)
    • Forgejo (Personal git forge)
    • Stirling pdf (PDF manipulation)
    • Synapse
    • NPM (proxy manager)
    • Immich (Image backup and storage)
    • Jellyfin (Media streaming)
    • Speedtest tracker
    • MC server

Always searching for other interesting and useful things to selfhost 😅 For Matrix I'm currently using the Element client, what is your experience with Cinny? Would you recommend it?

  • a cool guide to diets
  • Volt Volt 3mo ago 100%

Close but not exactly, your body is capable of freely switching between fat or carb burning. When your body really thinks it's starving, it will start "eating" your muscles instead.

Fat burning gives steady supply of energy instead of the highs and lows of energy dense carbs. You feel this the hardest after lunch, on carbs you'll often feel tired and sluggish. You don't have this on keto.

Switching into keto can be a miserable experience though, so you're right about that. Once in keto it's chill.

Benefit of Matrix is that it offers bridging chat to and from other chat applications. It eases transitioning to it as you can have all your chats in one place.

  • FCC chair: Speed standard of 25Mbps down, 3Mbps up isn’t good enough anymore
  • Volt Volt 1y ago 100%

To clear up confusion, 6MBps (MegaByte) down would be equal to 48Mbps (Megabit). So you would be above the mentioned standard.

Or you made typo, then you're indeed below standard ^^"

The newest Jerboa version allows to hide the labels, perhaps a sufficient workaround for now.

  • Why does everyone like Create?
  • Volt Volt 1y ago 100%

Somehow Create feels very vannila-esque. No UI's, no 1 block does it all, creative freedom,... It's a nice change of pace between all the tech mods out there.

  • Error message on jerboa regarding instance version
  • Volt Volt 1y ago 100%

The app is still in alpha, you'll encounter bugs but that doesn't mean your specific bug is caused by the missing lemmy version error.

Anyhow, are you running Jerboa version 0.36? If so, update to 0.37, it sounds like a bug that was resolved in that version.

  • Volt Volt 1y ago 75%

Yeah, I believe pawb.social just doesn't return lemmy version as how Jerboa expects it (notice the empty brackets in screenshot of OP), thus Jerboa shows error even though the app just works.

  • App trouble
  • Volt Volt 1y ago 100%

If your home instance updated to newest lemmy version (0.18 I believe) you have to use newest Jerboa version (0.0.35)

Otherwise you have to use Jerboa version 0.0.34

  • Maybe a community-made game?

    Will it fail? Probably.

Will it be interesting? Hell yeah imo, I don't mind giving it a shot

  • What are YOU self-hosting?
  • Volt Volt 1y ago 100%

Got my hands on an old HP Proliant DL385P Gen8, on it I got running:

    • Jellyfin
    • qbittorrent
    • Homepage
    • Grafana
    • Prometheus
    • Minecraft server
    • Pihole
    • Some private projects (Angular, PostgreSQL, ...)

Most of them are running in Docker containers. Am still looking for things to add, Lemmy could be interesting although I don't have any communities in mind to host.
