Federated subscriptions

I'm very new to the fediverse and how it works and have run into one question so far. If I subscribe to a community that is on another instance from my lemmy.world user then those subscriptions are shown as "Subscription Pending" even after a full day now. What does that mean? Is there another step I need to take? The content for those subs show in my sub only feed here no problem so maybe it's not an issue at all. Mainly just curious. Example:  Thanks!
