If you move sim racing, would you mind replying to me to let me know? I follow the current one just cause I think sim racing is neat. If it gets moved I'd love to follow the new one

(Totally fine if that's too much work :)

I appreciate you mentioning that, thats how I'm considering using the 5 if it ends up as my phone replacement, but I have a hard time interpreting the info around wireless frequency bandwidths supported 🙃 I like pretty user interfaces, networking hurts my brain

You can buy a replacement movement (the guts that tell time) for probably pretty inexpensive. Someone else in the comments mentioned what the movement is (it's a very common movement, I just can't remember and I'm on mobile so I can't check while typing this)

All I did was comment about how people should contact the FTC in regards to YouTube's 'conduct' in regard to a streamer doxxing someone else and their inaction, and they bust the rule on me
  • Cris_Color Cris_Color 1y ago 100%

Potentially helpful context: unless content is locked behind a subscription like patreon or nebula, no account is needed, though some of the services still support logging in to your account on that platform like twitch or youtube so you can access certain functionality that requires your account on those platforms

The app and (plugins for each platform) are open source, and the app is built by the FUTO organization who's gives grants to technology projects aimed at better respecting the privacy and agency of end users. If I understand correctly the project was directly overseen by Louis Rossman

Ultimately to trust something with accounts is a big deal, but hopefully this context makes it easier to consider that choice and decide what's right for you :)

Grayjay is also a cool new option you might wanna look into :) it supports freetube, YouTube, twitch, etc all through one app. Louis rossman has a video up about it on his YouTube channel. Worth knowing its in beta though

Never mind, even after compressing down to under 50kb, it still won't work and although the error message in jerboa is cut off, it looks to be saying the image is too large 🙃

Oh, thank you for reminding me, I had actually downloaded the image toolkit app from f-droid but hadn't played with it yet. The limit for my current server is 100kb unfortunately. And last I saw, lemmy.world (where my previous account is) wasn't allowing people to upload media because they were dealing with people abusing the functionality to post child pornography or something like that

The image quality isn't great, but at least compressed I can still post things through the jerboa app. I had totally forgot I'd already found a decent Foss app to do image compression

  • Anyone interested in a mental health support group?
  • Cris_Color Cris_Color 1y ago 100%

I think thats an awesome idea but make sure that you are careful to facilitate a healthy space- its very easy for spaces dedicated to really awful parts of the human experience to become so overwhelming in their negativity that they're kind of a toxic cesspool making it harder for people to make their peace with things and cope effectively, rather than easier

can we have a pinned tutorial on how to get started with ricing in different distros
  • Cris_Color Cris_Color 1y ago 100%

A solid, accessible guide for different desktop environments and window mangers is something that's been needed for a long time. Or even just some kinda step by step to recreate an example setup would be super helpful to new folks and could help grow the community.

I think that'd be a plus given the migration to lemmy split things up and shrank the number of contributers here vs reddit.

Thanks ☺️ at some point I need to find a good solution for posting from mobile cause I wanna contribute to content but not being able to upload to lemmy directly has made that so much harder. I was just hoping to only need open source stuff and I think I'll probably need to use the official imgur website or app, cause the only open source one doesn't seem to be working for uploading pictures. We'll see

  • Is anyone else having issues with Jeroba text entry
  • Cris_Color Cris_Color 1y ago 100%

I believe this is an issue with both openboard and the aosp keyboard (with jerboa specifically), here lemme find the repo for the open board fork thats still getting development

Edit: https://github.com/Helium314/openboard this fork is under active development. It can be installed via the apks on github or through obtainium. If there isn't one already it would be helpful to submit a bug report for the issue you're experiencing. It might be good to open a bug report with jerboa too

  • I've been delighted with dread wringer (though I would love to have a functioning special, pls for the love of god Nintendo). And I play a lot of comp and have really enjoyed that its more flexible for a variety of modes than my other main front line weapon, range blaster, which is only particularly strong on tower control. I'm really proud, in the first few days of the season I got dread wringer to 607th x rank placement on the leaderboards for tower control, which is higher than I've ever been, I was super proud 🥺. I think I'm also grateful to have a front line weapon I really like that can paint now, range blaster is garbage at paint lol, but dread wringer has me pretty often getting highest turf covered for a match! Heavy edit seems busted strong, but I did a really bad job of playing it, I think I was just playing with the wrong mindset about how to position and control space. Its a cool weapon though! (But also it desperately needs at least a little nerfing lol, its sooo strong). And I had a good time playing machine a bit again; I'd kinda dropped it cause its kit honestly felt too good, but I love having a point sensor kit for it again, even if I'm horrible at inkzooka 😅 a more supportive kit would have been kinda nice, but I think only *I* would be happy with that. I love a kit with a main that can carry and a kit that can help me and my teammates play our best. And the new brella is super cool but also I'm no good at brella, but I'm happy they gave it at least a miniscule buff and a super strong kit- it desperately needed it

So far I've really enjoyed both, but I especially loved crableg capital on zones. The verticality that the bridges over mid add was so much fun! Tower control for crableg was also a good time, but took me a minute to kinda figure out. I enjoy that the tower stops at their plat making it easy to push up and try to take their platform when pushing Shipshape for clams was fun (playing around mid was a blast) but the whole left path to the basket being grates made it pretty frustrating to try and get their basket open, with only one safe path most weapons can take
