All bolted back together

hi all many of you on lemmy.nz and here at no.lastname.nz will know about my fall earlier this year. well, yesterday i finally got bolted back together with latarjet surgery st stop my shoulder dislocating again and to help stop the ball floating so much in the cup. i'll have to be taking it slow for the next few weeks (again) at work. this may mean i have more time to put into this instance - if im feeling up to it. maybe we will see some changers here an on my (and wife's) blogs

xss fix

sunaurus just posted this in the lemmy dev chat: Reposting from another channel to get this out to as many admins as possible: Current mitigations: Remove custom emoji ``` DELETE FROM custom_emoji_keyword; DELETE FROM custom_emoji; ``` Overwrite content with the exploit ``` UPDATE comment SET content = '<REMOVED BY ADMIN>' WHERE content LIKE '%![" onload%'; UPDATE private_message SET content = '<REMOVED BY ADMIN>' WHERE content LIKE '%![" onload%'; UPDATE post SET body = '<REMOVED BY ADMIN>' WHERE body LIKE '%![" onload%'; UPDATE post SET name = '<REMOVED BY ADMIN>' WHERE name LIKE '%![" onload%'; ``` Rotate your JWT secret (invalidates all current login sessions) -- back up your secret first, just in case `SELECT * FROM secret;` -- generate a new secret `UPDATE secret SET jwt_secret = gen_random_uuid();` Probably worth doing

NZ Lemmy Communities

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.nz/post/63156 > Not all NZ content is on this instance, so I thought it would be helpful to create a list of NZ focused communities (with some level of filtering) to help people find what they are looking for. > > Links are handled a bit weird at the moment in Lemmy. These communities will be linked to the Lemmy.nz page for the community, to make it easier for our users to subscribe. If you’re on another instance, the page will give you a community address to copy to the search bar of your instance, e.g. “!support@lemmy.nz”. Copy this to the search form, click search, and wait 5-10 seconds for it to show up (quicker if someone else has searched before you). > > Communities marked as (new) may not have much content yet. > > **General** > > - [Aotearoa / New Zealand](https://lemmy.nz/c/newzealand) - share posts about Aotearoa. Lemmy 0.18

No Last Name is now running the latest version of Lemmy. This is a massive update. Some more discussion is [available here](https://lemmy.nz/post/146222). Please let me know if anything isn’t working right. Hopefully there are some previous bugs that are fixed. Feel free to reply with tips or new things you’ve discovered about this version!

About Lemmy

Lemmy is an open-source, federated link aggregator and discussion platform designed as a decentralized alternative to platforms like Reddit. It aims to provide a customizable, privacy-focused, and community-driven space for sharing links, engaging in discussions, and forming online communities. At its core, Lemmy allows users to create communities or join existing ones. These communities can focus on specific topics, interests, or themes, fostering engagement among like-minded individuals. Users can submit links to content, such as articles, videos, or images, and the community can vote on and discuss these submissions. One of Lemmy's defining features is its federated architecture. Rather than relying on a single centralized server, Lemmy instances can be created and interconnected, forming a network of independent communities. Each instance can have its own moderation policies, community guidelines, and design while remaining part of the larger Lemmy federation. This federated model enables decentralization and community autonomy, allowing instances to operate independently and moderate content according to their own standards. Lemmy embraces the ActivityPub protocol, a widely adopted standard for federated social networking. This protocol enables interoperability between different platforms that support it, allowing users on Lemmy instances to interact with users on other federated platforms. It encourages collaboration, discovery, and cross-community engagement. Privacy and user control are fundamental principles of Lemmy. It emphasizes user anonymity and allows users to control their data and privacy settings. With Lemmy, users can choose pseudonyms and decide what personal information, if any, they want to share. This focus on privacy helps create a safe and secure environment for open discussions. https://join-lemmy.org/docs/en/introduction.html
