Welcome to Lemmy, I'm one of the devs and admins for this instance. Being pro-piracy, and allowing torrent magnet links 🏴‍☠️ , is one of the original reasons I started working on lemmy ( even a lot of the better reddit alts refuse to allow magnet links, or be pirate-friendly). One of the best ways to keep the stream alive, is by decentralizing the ways we find and access content. Torrents do this directly for data, but I hope that lemmy, as a federated reddit alternative, can eventually serve as a platform to aggregate, post, and comment on pirated data in a decentralized way. [More info about Lemmy including docs, how federation works, and a good onboarding site.](https://join-lemmy.org/) Welcome aboard!

Most communities on externally-owned sites don’t allow requesting content, but I assume there’s something somewhere for that purpose. I try to find as much as I can on my own but I need help with something currently so yeah.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/20403604 > if you're a long time PC games pirate, I'd like to divert your attention to an area you probably haven't looked at (I know I haven't) - Playstation 3. > > you're free to look up its [history](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3), but in short, it's tech that premiered in 2006, so def on the old side. nevertheless, it's still in active use with game development reaching into 2017. > > the kicker here is - it's almost flawlessly jailbreakable, allowing you to play anything that was produced for it, *including* games for PS1 and PS2! two caveats: a) I haven't registered nor used a PSN account, as I see no value in it so no idea if network play works and b) I only tried 15 or so games. > > they can be had in the $30-50 range, the older models (fat and earlier slim) being preferable because they support the persistent hack, while later slims and superslims are less so, but still hackable with a non-persistent hack (you need to patch it every time it powers on). > > [the hack](https://invidious.privacyredirect.com/watch?v=LIVu3Px3eXY) is super easy and straightforward and involves no hardware mods of any kind - it wouldn't hurt to clean and repaste a 20 year old device, though. the new hack with the custom firmware (CFW) is persistent, so it's there forever unless you decide to flash the original firmware (OFW). > > because it's such an old platform there isn't super active resistance from sony towards the hack scene, so you should be good on that front for many, many moons. in contrast, the rare PS4 hacks are quickly patched and rendered useless, even though it's pretty ancient tech from 2012. > > I stumbled onto one by chance, [found a broken device sans Blu-Ray drive](https://lemmy.ml/post/17919547), seemingly useless for normies. thanks to the super-active community at [psx-place](https://www.psx-place.com/), I was able to resurrect it, flash the latest 4.91 CFW with a noBD patch, got me a fake sixaxis game pad and an old 500 GB drive and everything works beautifully! > > you can get games from dedicated "ROM" sites as well as torrents; I'm not overly familiar with the malware situation but I doubt it's a serious concern. the games can be transferred over the network using plain ol' FTP, copied from USB drives or even played directly from those. although it was the primary method of game distribution, I haven't needed the BD once. there are mods with store-like interfaces that allow you to directly download games from the internet and install them to the disk. also, DLNA is supported, I managed to play movies from my Jellyfin server! > > although it won't hurt it, SSD are probably overkill. the SATA1 interface it has is congruent with transfer speeds of mechanical drives, so you're fine with repurposing one of those, as they can be had for next to nothing; max size is 1.5TB. > > I've gotten a cheap sixaxis clone; cost me $10 NiB and it works. I don't know if I suck at playing dynamic games because it's shit or because I plain suck (never played with a gamepad before), that remains to be seen. I'm def not buying an original because they cost like $50+, and I'm not getting them used because yuck - who knows who sweated on them and what else they did with it. > > a word of warning - you shouldn't spend a ton of money on them because it's decade+ old tech that's on the uptick part of a bathtub curve. the graphics chips they had, especially the early models, are prone to die and repair isn't viable. > > it took me a while to piece together all the info as I've never had any interactions with consoles of any kind, let alone the hack aspects of it. if you're similarly challenged, ask away here or on [ps3piracy](https://lemmy.ml/c/ps3piracy@lemmy.world) and I'll try to help!

Been trying to play Factorio with my gf and cousin, who both use ARM Macbooks. Via [bitsearch](https://bitsearch.to/) I was able to find a couple Factorio torrents that include MacOS, but despite allegedly having seeders, I wasn't able to get the download to work (even with DHT enabled). Does anyone know where I can find a working download link? To be clear, every torrent I found didn't actually have seeders when I put it into the torrent client. At least a few years ago, I was able to a cracked Factorio MacOS version. (Windows version via Wine works on Linux, but not MacOS (even via Whisky). Installing Asahi is not an option, but an idea I entertained).

Edit: solved i just used a paid app that gives you 3 free downloads Hey, so I have some downloads on Amazon Prime that I want to remove the DRM from, however I only find deleted posts on Reddit or some sketchy programs/sites I really don't trust. Does any of you guys know how to remove the DRM? I'm willing to do a lot of work if I have to as long as it's free. Also, if it is an application that does it, I'd prefer FOSS even if it's inferior. Maybe I can reward the first person with a solution with some movie of choice😉

Ok, so I wanna expand my local music library, but Lidarr isn't doing it for me. My problem with it is mainly that it downloads all kinds of weird releases of an album when I just want the bog standard first release of an album. Also, for single songs it's quite the kerfuffle. A possibility is downloading songs from YouTube through [Stacher](stacher.io) but then I need to update all the metadata myself, which I haven't found a user-friendly program for so far. So my question is: Is there a program like Lidarr, but for single songs? Or some other solution to the issue I'm having?

I currently use a Hetzner VPS in conjunction with a Hetzner storage box. Generally I'm very happy with this setup, but I recently had a VPN failure which resulted in a very stern email from Hetzner. What I would like to do is keep the storage box, but move my torrenting/jellyfin server to a different company. I'm worried about them deleting my ~12TB of media if I slip up again! Basically I want a comparable value to Hetzner, with a US based server. Who's got recs?

Nintendo Switch emulation I'm considering buying a steam deck soon, and am very interested in switch emulation. The megathread doesn't seem to say much about switch emulation(unless I missed something). So are there any good and trustworthy sites for roms, DLC, keys and BIOSes? I'd love to rip them all myself but I'm too worried I'll brick my switch to attempt hardmodding. Thanks in advance!

Just looking to pirate a good DAW to stick my toes in the water of music production. I have Reaper, but I want something with more sequencing features. I'd love FL studio, but am not picky. Sorry if I've committed a faux pas, this is my first time posting here. Thanks!

Hi all, I'm struggling to find a good source of fonts online, where do you find yours? I'm talking about legit resources for people in the design field, not Google fonts or hasty web rips with half the amount of glyphs Thanks!

So, recently ps4 consoles have been going for decent prices and I've been wondering if getting one to hack is practical and/or possible. Mainly to pirate games. Is this possible? Where else can I ask?

Hey all! The other day I set up a network drive to store all my ISOs. My question is, if I download something from my personal PC, straight to the network drive, does the network drive need to have a VPN running? If I'm downloading to the network drive, does my PC download it and then transfer to the network drive? Or does the network drive just download it directly. I'm sure this is a very dumb question, but thanks for any insight!
