The Guide is from 2 years ago but the tools not really changed, [TLP](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/TLP) etc is still used widely across several distros.
The guidance of course, works universal, you can also do this on practical any OS that is powered by good hardware resources. The cracking time depends on several factors, for the original author it was 4 days.
