cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/18334368 > “House of the Dragon” hit a Season 2 high in viewership with Sunday’s finale, which drew 8.9 million multiplatform viewers across HBO and Max, per Warner Bros. Discovery. >That’s up 14% from the Season 2 premiere night, which garnered 7.8 million viewers. However, it is down from the audience size for the first season finale of “House of the Dragon” in 2022.

She is recruiting random little folk to tame dragons. She doesn't know these little folk. They could easily just take the dragon and do whatever they want, be it join the greens or fly away with it and just chill for a bit. There's not really keeping them loyal to Rhaneyra. Another issue is that she's assuming the little folk that tame a dragon are willing to go to war. Not everyone is willing to face that level of danger. They may say they are and even mean it, but when the confrontation is about to happen and they realize the danger they're in, they could easily renege. Lastly, these people could be mad. They could potentially just burn a few important people when it's least expected. The whole strategy seems deeply flawed.

Is [@houseofthedragon@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/houseofthedragon) ( [https://lemmy.ml/c/houseofthedragon](https://lemmy.ml/c/houseofthedragon) ) the only fediverse discussion group for House of the Dragon? Maybe there's one covering both Game of Thrones and HotD? Episode is called "A son for a son" ... I think it's fairly obvious we'll be seeing *that* scene in episode 1, or maybe the setup? What do you think?

HYPE. That is all.

Lots of talk across season one about the opening credits. How do we feel about them? Personally, I'm a big fan of them using the iconic music, and I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot barge pole. The actual visuals? Utterly perplexing to me, and I say that as someone who's familiar with the source material. I understand what they were going for but I think everything is a bit hard to parse.

Hi all, I thought it would be a good idea to do a weekly rewatch (technically starting yesterday Sunday as I'm UK time), and watch one episode of season 1 a week which should lead us nicely up to the new season on 16th June. Feel free to discuss S1E01 here!

Finally. I have absolutely no idea who these guys are, but it's nice to be able to visualise them in the roles at least.

One of my biggest complaints about season one was the constant jumping between time periods. I understand the necessity, given the story that they are trying to tell, but I think it took an awful lot of people out of the show, and made it even harder to bond with those adult characters that are going to be carrying the show going forward. Season two *should* feel a lot more.....stable by comparison.

The show is coming back, and I'm anticipating a bit more activity on the community so I think it probably makes sense to hash this out now.

My favourite scenes are heavily skewed towards the end of the season. Not that the younger actors didn't do great, just that I found the drama to be much more engaging as the series went on. As such, my favourite scene in the entire first season is: '....And Strong'. I think the actor playing Aemond is absolutely bossing it, and this scene is the culmination of a few episodes of building tension. The way the scene is shot, the way the actor delivers his lines and then the pause, damn that pause. We all knew what was coming, and to finally hear him say it was both incredibly satisfying and fantastic fun.

How do we feel about this? My initial reaction is that it's going to be a very expensive story to tell, but one that's over pretty quickly....

Look, season 8 was a bit of a mess...but even messy Thrones still has its redeeming qualities. What were your favourite moments? Brienne being Knighted was one of those rare moments. We got 7 years of build up, some great character work with Her and Jaime and even had some of our favourite characters around to experience it alongside her. For my money, that might have been the last truly great scene in the series. You?
